GCSE Tuesday vs Saturday classes

This year, Open Desk will continue to provide support for GCSE students

through two complementary types of sessions. The Tuesday classes will

focus on strengthening subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry,

and Physics, while the Saturday sessions will concentrate on exam

technique and preparation skills.

GCSE Science Classes (Tuesdays)

These sessions will focus on revisiting and consolidating subject

knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Each session will

include:

- A structured review of key GCSE content in all three sciences

- Clear explanations of challenging topics

- Worked examples and guided practice

- Opportunities to ask questions and address areas of difficulty

The aim of these sessions is to build a strong understanding of the

science content so that students feel confident in their knowledge

before applying it in exam situations.

GCSE Exam Practice Classes (Saturdays)

These sessions will not cover new subject content. Instead, they will

focus on developing essential exam skills, including:

- How to read, interpret, and answer exam questions effectively

- Applying “working scientifically” principles

- Tackling the maths skills required in science exams

- Understanding command words and what examiners are looking for

- Strategies for approaching unfamiliar content confidently

The aim of these sessions is to strengthen exam technique and build

confidence so that students can apply their subject knowledge

successfully under exam conditions.
